SINGAPORE – The Singapore-China Leadership Forum will be held virtually on Friday, October 29, with the Republic making a planned transition to Education Minister Chan Chun Sing as its co-chair.
This is the first time that the forum, which first took place in 2009 and is in its eighth edition, has been held online.
Mr. Chan, who is also minister in charge of the civil service, co-organizes this year’s forum with Mr. Jiang Xinzhi, Chinese executive vice-minister of the Central Organization Department that controls the appointments of Chinese Communist Party personnel. . (CPC).
The two men will deliver the opening speeches.
Chief Minister Teo Chee Hean, who was co-chair of previous forums, will meet with Mr. Chen Xi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and minister of the Central Organization Department, by video conference prior to the forum.
The forum, which Singapore and China usually take turns hosting, allows political leaders and senior officials from both countries to discuss leadership development experiences and challenges. The seventh forum in 2019 was held in China.
The Singapore delegation, headed by Mr. Chan, includes Minister of Communications and Information Josephine Teo, Minister of National Development Desmond Lee, Minister of State for Communications and Information and National Development Tan Kiat How and Parliamentary Secretary for Communication and Information and Health Rahayu Mahzam, as well as senior government officials.
The Chinese delegation, led by Mr. Jiang, includes the executive vice president of the Central Party School Li Shulei, the vice minister of the Central Organization Department Wang Xiaoping, the general secretary of the Central Organization Department. Hu Jinqi, Vice Minister of Civil Affairs Wang Aiwen and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Wu Jianghao, as well as senior Chinese officials.
