Letter: The great spring 2022 antiquarian book sale is a success | Opinion

For the editor:

On behalf of the Friends of the Newburyport Public Library (FOL) Board of Trustees, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the community for their incredible support of our recent great Spring 2022 Antiquarian Book Sale.

Thank you to the volunteers who donated books. Thank you to the volunteers who showed up to set them up and sort them. Thank you to the volunteers who worked on the sale, kept the books “tidy” and helped break down the sale at the end. Finally, thank you to everyone who purchased the books!

The Friends Board of Directors is delighted to announce that this event raised $9,627. These funds will be returned directly to the community through library funding.

Friends is an all-volunteer registered non-profit organization, separate from the library, which raises funds to support library offerings not covered by the city budget. These include the annual museum pass program, programs for adults and children, and the video streaming service Kanopy, among others.

One of the benefits of joining Friends of the Newburyport Public Library is early access to the book sale on the first day of the sale. If you are not yet a member of FOL, join us! Information can be found at www.Newburyportfol.org.

Mark your calendars now for our big fall antiquarian book sale: October 19-22. Thanks again everyone. It really takes a team effort to make a community event like this happen!
