League of Women Voters to Host Virtual Candidates Forum for Primary Elections

The Plainfield Women’s Voters’ League will host a virtual Democratic Primary Forum for the public to learn about the candidates running for election:

The League of Women Voters has built a long-standing reputation for organizing professional non-partisan candidate forums for all levels of government. The League has contacted all candidates and scheduled forums for the June 8 primary election. Forums give voters the chance to judge whether their candidates are knowledgeable on important issues regarding the position they seek, and it gives job seekers a chance to present their position directly to voters. We encourage all voters to attend. Your vote is your voice!

During COVID time, our virtual forums use the same rules as our in-person events, including the use of professionally trained impartial moderators. Our members organize questions to cover all the highlights and issues collected from local residents. We exclude personal attacks and inappropriate questions to maintain a civil and honest agenda. People can see the event in real time and access the online recording after the fact.

We welcome the partnership on a forum with a sponsor, such as a civic association or a news organization. To organize a forum with the League of Women Voters in Union County, please contact us at [email protected]

The voter registration deadline for the June primary is May 18. You must be registered with a political party to participate in the primary election of that party. Registered unaffiliated voters can declare their political party on election day. For the latest information on voting, including races and candidate positions, visit VOTE411.org.
