True to its vision of ensuring cybersecurity in the Philippines, the Information Security Officers Group (ISOG) hosted the second installment of its 2022 Metaverse Virtual Forum Series on June 23.
Anchored on the general theme of “Traversing the realm of cyberspace”, the 2n/a The Metaverse Forum focused on discussions about each company’s adjustment to the new normal and the steps being taken to integrate the Metaverse into their operations. The virtual forum showcased diverse and radical ideas as well as important business opportunities and solutions from great minds.
“This forum highlights our initiative and our efforts to design, create and maintain a unified solution in the enterprise of the metaverse in the banking sector. We continue to work with our partner institutions and stakeholders to address concerns and promote safe and effective use of the metaverse for businesses,” said Archie Tolentino, ISOG President and Chief Technology Security Officer at information from the Philippines.
Joining this virtual forum are distinguished field experts, decision-makers and cyber-leaders, including the pioneer of banking metaverse in the Philippines, senior executive vice president of Union Bank, chief technology and operations officer and Chief Transformation Officer Henry Rhoel Aguda.
Cybersecurity professionals also got insights on the reliability and accessibility of data within the security framework provided by Arnie Alvarez, CTO and CIO of Huawei Technologies Philippines Group of Companies. They also gained insights on the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Financial Services Cyber Resilience Plan presented by Mhel Plabasan, the agency’s head of technology and cybersecurity risk oversight, including technologies emerging.
Forum delegates learned about the concept and implications of the metaverse and the importance of artificial intelligence in ensuring cybersecurity through a presentation by Tony Jarvis, Corporate Security Director (APJ) of Darktrace. Meanwhile, Palo Alto Network Field Security Director Ian Lim addressed Zero Trust as a guiding principle for securing an organization’s journey into the metaverse. Mario Demarillas, Chief Information Security Officer and Head of Information Technology Consulting and Software Engineering at Exceture, and Tal Blaustein, COO of BlueVoyant, presented more exciting topics on the metaverse.
Forum delegates also took part in an in-depth panel discussion titled “Decoding the New Workspace in the Metaverse.” It was an avenue where industry experts addressed concerns and questions about virtual presentations. Henry Aguda from Unionbank, Tony Jarvis from Darktrace, Mhel Plabasan from BSP and Arnie Alvarez from Huawei Technologies Philippines joined the first panel. Roundtable 2 on “The Metaverse: Revolutionizing Opportunity” was led by Ian Lim of Palo Alto and Mario Demarillas of Exceture. Both panels are moderated by CEO and President of SQrity Consulting, Ricson Singson Que.
“To make the most of the opportunities of the metaverse without sacrificing any aspect of the business, it is crucial that information security professionals are equipped with the right knowledge of this new digital ecosystem. Rest assured that ISOG will support them as they continue to protect cyberspace,” said ISOG Vice President Chito Jacinto.
The second installment of the virtual cybersecurity forum was supported by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Philippine Bankers Association, the National Privacy Commission and the Department of Information and Communications Technology. The last two virtual forums in this series are scheduled for July 21 and September 1.
