A bug in Screen Time causes it to display random websites for hours at a time. Here’s how to fix it.
It’s always instructive to compare how much time you’ve spent on the different sized screens you watch every day. In fact, Apple users have the ability to see exactly how much time they spend on their various iOS and Mac devices with Screen Time.
Unfortunately, some Apple users have reported shock after seeing unexpected websites popping up on their Screen Time app, for hours on end, without ever visiting them. So why does this happen and how do you fix it?
Why Does Your iPhone Screen Time Show Random Websites?
According to hundreds of online forum users, Screen Time has a bug where a website you’ve visited in the past keeps showing up on the app.
Although there is no official reason why this is happening, users suspect that it has something to do with an API error. If you want to continue using Screen Time to reduce your iPhone usage, here’s how to fix this bug.
How to Fix Random Websites Appearing at Screen Time
To fix the Screen Time bug and get your data back in order, you need to clear your Safari website data and history on all your iCloud-linked devices. You may also need to reset the Screen Time feature.
How to Clear History and Website Data on Your iPhone
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Safari. Then select Clear history and website data. Finally, press Clear history and data to confirm.
Keep in mind that deleting your history and website data will also affect any other websites you have visited.
How to Reset Your iPhone’s Screen Time Feature
If Screen Time is still not working properly, you can also disable and enable Screen Time to reset it. However, this method will delete all your previous Screen Time data.
To achieve this, go to Settings > Screen Time. Then select Turn off screen time. In the pop-up window, tap Turn off screen time again to confirm.
Keep your Screen Time app running
While this Screen Time bug doesn’t seem like a big deal, it can be an annoying experience for people who are actively trying to reduce their overall usage.
