Companies reveal plans for Tipoff at Toomer’s and beyond

Downtown Auburn retailers welcome the fall season by attending Tipoff at Toomer’s as well as other events and sales throughout the rest of October.

Tipoff at Toomer’s takes place on October 7 and is a free event open to the public. It’s a new Auburn tradition that started in 2019 with a basketball court located in the heart of Auburn.

Appearances will be made by Bruce Pearl, the men’s basketball head coach, and Johnnie Harris, the women’s basketball head coach.

In addition, local businesses will participate in this event with their own sales and events. J&M, the bookstore with Auburn materials, will host a book signing with former Auburn student and bachelorette candidate Madison Prewett.

This autograph session will present his new book, “Made for This Moment: Standing Firm with Strength, Grace, and Courage”.

J&M store manager Trey Johnston said downtown Auburn expects large crowds for a “wonderful time” at Tipoff at Toomer’s.

The Behind the Glass store will be giving away free frios pops with purchases made during the event. Store manager Chloe Floyd mentioned that there will be basketball hoops to “shoot your shot” and also earn discounts and prizes.

Other downtown businesses such as Therapy Boutique are also planning to attend this event. In addition, the Fab’rik store will offer a 20% sale on the entire store.

At the end of the week, October 9, Fab’rik will also begin their “fall sale at last”. According to store owner Tanya Fuller, there’s a sale every weekend that’s different every time. Sales range from 20% on shoes one weekend to 20% on sweaters another weekend.

Later this month, Mountain Hight Outfitters will be holding a coat drive from October 26 to November 4. This coat drive encourages people to donate a coat and get 20% off a new one.

Additionally, store manager Troy Marable noted that they have 20% off Auburn merchandise for this season’s home football games.

At Charming Oaks, assistant manager Kendall Alby said their fall stock is starting to be laid out on the floor.

So, throughout the fall season, they will have surprise sales that are usually not announced until the same day on their Instagram. However, they anticipate that some of those sales will take place on match days.

Meanwhile, J&M will also be hosting more signing events throughout the football season.

“We try to make game day experiences great fun for my employees as well as the customers,” said Johnston.
