The RoR developer will join a dynamic team of highly skilled front-end and back-end developers to help with the integration and quality assurance of existing customer iterations. The RoR developer will also work with internal partner engineers around the world to ensure customers have a great experience. Customer detailsThe organization is in the financial services space specializing in financial credit and loan systems. The organization was one of the early pioneers of online lending in South Africa. They have evolved into a mass online loan insurer with new fintech opportunities.The descriptionLead and deliver the integration in the new partner services from the analysis phase to the design of the integration up to the commissioning and post-delivery follow-up:

  • Solve and develop ad-hoc solutions off the beaten track for certain special projects
  • Monitor and measure the quality of service of existing partners already integrated into the platform
  • Develop internal monitoring, reporting and operational tools and processes
  • Drive partners that fit into our network providing technical expertise and support.

The candidate will be in charge of integration and support through activities and tools such as:

  • API, Mobile application development (Andriod Suite);
  • Monolib; .
  • Additionally, Node (JavaScript), PHP and Python would be considered; Writing scripts with MySQL and SQL stacks.


  • Formal training in computer science or software development
  • Insurance or financial services experience
  • Knowledge of IT QA processes and protocols
  • Knowledge of backend development for Fintech operations
  • More than 5 years of back-end development with Ruby on Rails
  • 7+ years working with databases and a good understanding of SQL
  • Vue.js, JavaScript (ES6), HTML5 / CSS, NodeJS
  • Design, development, maintenance and consumption of APIs (SOAP, REST, JSON)
  • Experience in writing test scripts using RSpec
  • In-depth knowledge of design patterns (MVC, etc.)
  • Experience with MySQL and Linux
  • Good understanding of Gitlab
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and experience

Job offerCTC: ZAR 800 K PA (min) – ZAR 900,000 PA (neg)
