There has been a surge in the appetite for online forums and conferences in this current phase of the covid pandemic, according to a survey that shows 80% of government employees are likely to attend a conference or an online trade show.
The survey of local, state and federal employees commissioned by Government News shows that 40% of respondents are very likely to attend a virtual conference or trade show that relates to them or their role in the next two to three months, while 40% say they are likely.
But the results also indicate that there is still a market for F2F events, with almost one in three saying they are likely to attend an event in person.
Half of the survey respondents worked in the local government sector, with 30% working for a state government and 22% commonwealth employees.
Place Branding Australia is going hybrid
It comes as Australia’s branding conference, Place Branding Australia, moves to a hybrid model that will include online options.
Program curator and MC Stu Speirs said with the state’s eastern borders open, organizers have decided to make a fourth attempt to hold the conference in Hobart after covid scuttled the previous attempts.
However, those unable or unwilling to attend in person will be able to access a live stream of the sessions.
“We understand that many who wish to join us will not be able to travel, so we will also be offering the conference in an online format,” Speirs told Government News.
“Tasmania as a whole and many of its individual parts have and are doing amazing things when it comes to branding.
“For starters, Brand Tasmania has just won global recognition for its work, being named Place Brand of the Year at the City Nation Place global conference. So for anyone who can make it to Hobart, it promises to be three incredible days surrounded by some of Australia’s and the world’s most innovative place branding professionals.
In addition to the F2F events, 20 sessions will be streamed in an online format over three days, Speirs said.
“So for those who can’t join us in person, you can still soak up the wisdom of the room remotely.”
